  • Forms, variables, shell scripts, and a package hub
  • Configuration is plain text you can version control

  • Clipboard vault and screenshot OCR included
  • One-click import of your existing Espanso YAML

What users say

Common complaints about Espanso

Quoted from public reviews and forums. Follow the links for full context.

On macOS it often doesn't paste text and will just delete everything while getting stuck.

After all approvals, espanso still doesn't work for me. The only way I have been able to make it work is if I leave espanso daemon running in a tmux/terminal window.

There's no menu-bar icon, no way to interact with it, and none of my shortcuts work.

Verdict

Which one should you pick?

Pick Espanso if…

Pick SnipVault if…

  • Espanso keeps breaking after macOS updates and you are done debugging Accessibility
  • You want a GUI and to save any copied text as a snippet in one click
  • You want clipboard history and screen OCR in the same app
